The Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1 that Princess Diana drove between 1985 and 1988 has sold at an auction for $851,070. Although the model was typically made in white, the royal family police requested Diana’s be black “for discretion,” according to the auctioneers. She often drove it between Chelsea and Kensington, and by the time she returned the car to Ford, it had 6,800 miles. The auction comes one week ahead of the 25-year anniversary of the Princess of Wales’ death.
