Richard Matt and David Sweat conducted a dry run of their prison escape the night before they fled, sources tell The New York Times. The duo had begun sawing through their cells six months before the escape, Sweat is reported to have told investigators. The superintendent of the Clinton Correctional Facility is one of several officials to be put on leave after two convicted murderers escaped from behind bars and spent more than three weeks on the run. Others expected to be placed on leave include the deputy superintendent for security, a lieutenant, and several corrections officers, sources tell the Albany Times Union, and they may face administrative charges stemming from an FBI investigation into lax prison conditions leading up to the escape.
