Egyptian blogger Kareem Amer has been missing since Sunday, sparking fears that the prominent dissident has been arrested. Amer is believed to have been captured as he was leaving Cairo’s Tahrir Square, the center of the uprising. The blogger has been arrested twice before and spent three years in prison “on a charge of inciting hatred of Islam and… insulting the president.” Reporters Without Borders said it feared “authorities will use this opportunity to send him back to prison for a long time.” Amer recounted the “torture” he saw in prison prior to being arrested, saying “torture was used by officers simply to get revenge for their friends.”
