Protesters Rally in Barcelona for Unity After Catalonia Independence Vote

At least 300,000 people gathered in Barcelona on Sunday to call for unity amid Catalonia’s independence vote, which was declared illegal by the Spanish government. Protesters were waving Spanish and European flags and calling for Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont to be imprisoned. In the aftermath of the independence vote by Catalan lawmakers, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy dissolved Catalonia’s parliament and set a new election date.
