An Iraq War veteran who was undergoing evaluation for PTSD shot and killed three people and wounded 16 before killing himself at the Texas military base on Wednesday. The soldier’s motive remains unknown, but Fort Hood's senior officer said Thursday they were looking into whether Army Specialist Ivan Lopez had a "verbal altercation" with another soldier before opening fire. Fort Hood spokesmen said Thursday that there appears to be no connection to terrorism. The Pentagon said Lopez was examined by a psychiatrist last month and was found to show no violent or suicidal tendencies. Fort Hood was the site in 2009 of a mass shooting that led to 13 deaths.
