Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday his country will add more than 40 intercontinental ballistic missiles to its nuclear arsenal this year. The president's comments come one day after Russian officials condemned a U.S. plan to deploy military equipment into NATO member states that border with Russia in response to the Ukraine crisis. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said he was concerned about the implications of Putin's announcement while NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg accused Russia of unjustified "saber rattling" and called the move "destabilizing and dangerous."
