Queen Elizabeth appeared in public for the first time in the new year following an illness over the Christmas holiday which had stoked renewed fears about the 90-year-old’s health. She attended a church service on Sunday morning with her family, but was unable to attend services on Christmas Day and New Years Day. Buckingham Palace said the queen was suffering from a “heavy cold” over the holidays.
