R. Kelly's estranged daughter called her father a “monster” Thursday on Instagram, in response to a slew of abuse accusations highlighted in Lifetime’s docu-series Surviving R. Kelly.” “I just want you all to understand that devastated is an understatement,” wrote 20-year-old Joann Kelly, who goes by the stage name Buku Abi. “I pray for all the families & women who have been affected by my father's actions. Trust, I am deeply affected by all of this. However, it had been very difficult to process it all. Let alone gather all the right words to express everything I feel.” Kelly is one of the R&B singer’s three children with ex-wife Andrea Kelly, who divorced him in 2009 after 13 years of marriage. “It has been years since my siblings and I have seen or have spoken to him,” Kelly said. “My mother, siblings and I would never condone, support or be apart of ANYTHING negative he has done or continues to do in his life...The same monster you all (are) confronting me about is my father. I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house,” she said.
