R. Kelly’s record label has reportedly frozen him out while he’s under criminal investigation and won’t release any new music from him or put money behind any of his projects until police decide whether or not to prosecute the singer. An unnamed source said to be familiar with Kelly’s contract at RCA/Sony told TMZ that the label has put the brakes on Kelly’s music until the criminal investigations in Georgia are resolved. Kelly is reportedly furious about the move—he’s said to have been in the studio recording new music and is annoyed the label won’t give him money for music videos. Georgia state and Atlanta city police announced a criminal investigation into Kelly after the Lifetime docu-series Surviving R. Kelly outlined abuse allegations against him.
