One of the creators of R2-D2, the iconic Star Wars droid, has died. Professor Tony Dyson, 68, was found dead at his home in Gozo, Malta, after local authorities were alerted by his friends that he’d not been heard from in several days. No foul play is suspected. Beyond creating R2-D2, Dyson’s long career included designing robots for large electronic companies like Toshiba, and supervising special effects for sci-fi films like Superman 2 and Moonraker.
