The company that sets the international standards for emojis and other characters is planning to introduce a wide range of new skin tones. The Unicode Consortium’s latest draft of its emoji report (yes, that’s apparently a thing) shows a future of emojis based on the six different skin tones of the Fitzpatrick scale, a dermatological standard. “People all over the world want to have emoji that reflect more human diversity, especially for skin tone," the company says in its report.
