Tell it to a judge: “I feared for his safety,” explains Tim Profitt, the Rand Paul supporter who was caught on camera stomping on the head of a MoveOn.org activist at Monday night’s debate in Kentucky. Profitt says he had to use his foot to hold down her head, because he has a bad back. The Lexington police are now investigating Profitt for fourth-degree assault, which is a misdemeanor, not a felony. Meanwhile, Rand Paul took out a full-page ad on Tuesday that touted Profitt’s endorsement; the ad was taken out before he was accused of the assault. According to the Election Oracle, Rand is 80-percent favored to win the Senate race.
