The day of the tragic attack was “boring” at first he says—but five minutes after getting on the bus he knew something was wrong. Five days after the rape, when visiting her in the hospital, he apologized for “letting her down.” She said that if they had stayed by the fountain at the mall, like he wanted to, they may have missed the bus.
