Ray Rice's wife Janay defended her husband, criticized his punishment, and slammed the media in the wake of the release of a video that shows her husband attacking her and his subsequent dismissal from the Baltimore Ravens." She has came to her husband’s defense on Instagram, criticizing the media and the public for “unwanted opinions” and making her and husband “relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day.” She said it has been a “nightmare” since the footage surfaced. “If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on many levels,” she wrote. “We will continue to grow & show the world what real love is.” She accused the media of acting "just to gain ratings." While his wife is standing by Rice, several major companies are not. Nike cut its endorsement contract, and EA Sports announced Rice will be eliminated from the Madden NFL 15 lineup. The Baltimore Ravens have also offered fans the opportunity to exchange their Ray Rice jerseys for other players’ gear.
