Reading on the iPad

One of the most eagerly anticipated features of the Apple iPad is the e-book reader. How does it stand up to Amazon’s Kindle? “Apple got it right,” writes Andy Inhatko in the Chicago Sun-Times. “I can’t think of anything exceptional that they’ve added to the reading experience but do you really want the reading experience to be anything other than ‘read page, turn page, repeat’?” Addressing one of readers’ largest concerns, Inhatko says, “I could read an iBook in sunlight just fine.” However, he points out that the Kindle retains advantages in price, size, and battery life—areas where “the iPad can’t put up any kind of a fight.”
