Zinedine Zidane has announced his shock resignation as manager of Spanish soccer club Real Madrid. The legendary former French international player led Madrid, arguably the world’s biggest soccer team, to three consecutive European successes in the Champions League—winning his third on Saturday against Liverpool. The Frenchman called an unexpected press conference Thursday afternoon to announce his surprise resignation. Zidane was appointed as head coach of the Real first team in January 2016. "I love this club," said Zidane. "What I think is that this team needs to continue winning but I think it needs a change, a different voice, another methodology. And that's why I took this decision."
