Red Sox Smack Cardinals

OPENING BID

In World Series opening game.

Boy, was that ugly to watch. The Red Sox have now won nine straight World Series games after pummeling the Cardinals 8-1 Wednesday night. The Sox opened the game with three runs in the first inning by capitalizing on a rare Cardinals error, and never looked back, later adding a home run by David Ortiz ("Big Papi"). Red Sox lefty Jon Lester dominated the Cardinals lineup, striking out eight in seven and two-thirds innings. Adding injury to insult, the Cardinals also lost right fielder Carlos Beltran to bruised ribs in the second inning while robbing Ortiz of a grand slam.
