Four skeletons found in California’s Mojave desert are believed to be the McStay family, a San Diego family who disappeared without a trace in 2010. Joseph, 40, Summer, 43, Gianni, 4, and Joseph Jr., 3, were apparent homicide victims, San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said. McMahon said they don’t know many details, including where the McStays were killed, or how long their bodies were in the desert—or why they were killed. Fighting back tears, Michael McStay, Joseph’s brother, said that “it’s not really the outcome we were looking for, but it gives us courage to know they’re together, and they’re in a better place.”
