The young mayor of Florence is on the verge of becoming Italy's youngest prime minsiter. 39-year-old Matteo Renzi announced today that he is beginning talks to form a new government in the next 24 hours. He was instrumental in ousting his party rival, Enrico Letta, as prime minister at a meeting of the Democratic Party leadership last week.
