Jane Harman, a powerful member of the House, is expected to leave her seat to helm a Washington think tank. Harman—whose husband, Sidney Harman, bought Newsweek in 2010—will helm the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a bipartisan think tank that’s part of the Smithsonian Institution. A major player in intelligence circles, she was elected to her ninth term in November. She’ll succeed Lee Hamilton, another former representative, in the role, which has not yet been formally announced. A special election will be held in Harman’s district, which is considered reliably Democratic.
