Pakistani police say between 15 and 20 militants armed with guns and grenades attacked the Mehran naval base in the city of Karachi, with BBC News reporting at least 11 soldiers dead. The gunmen reportedly attacked the well-fortified stronghold from three sides, leading some to believe that they had someone on the inside, and they are holding hostages, including Chinese military personnel. While no one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, many suspect it was carried out by Taliban militants avenging the death of Osama bin Laden exactly three weeks ago. Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the attack late Sunday, calling it a "cowardly act of terror,” and said it would not stop Pakistan from fighting terrorism.
