The Environmental Protection Agency’s acting administrator, Andrew Wheeler, reportedly liked racist content on social media and retweeted a “Pizzagate” conspiracy theorist. HuffPost reports that in January 2013, Wheeler liked a Facebook picture of Barack and Michelle Obama that showed them looking at a “white person’s hand holding a banana.” He also retweeted Jack Posobiec, who promoted the Pizzagate conspiracy theory, on his personal Twitter account in February. In a 2014 Facebook comment, Wheeler joked that Hillary Clinton was in the “Bible’s apocalyptic predictions.” In an email, he told HuffPost that he did “not remember” liking the photo of the Obamas. “Over the years, I have been a prolific social media user and liked and inadvertently liked countless social media posts,” Wheeler reportedly wrote. “As for some of the other posts, I agreed with the content and was unaware of the sources.”
