President Trump is so upset about this week’s interest rate hike that he has repeatedly talked about firing Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell—a move that would likely send shock waves through the financial sector, Bloomberg News reported. Some of Trump’s advisers have reportedly warned him against such a drastic, unprecedented move and are hoping he drops the idea. It’s unclear how much authority Trump even has to give Powell the ax, but that has not stopped him from discussing it “many times” in recent days amid stock-market declines, Bloomberg reported. The White House and the Federal Reserve declined to comment.
