CIA Director Gina Haspel listened to the audio of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi’s interrogation and death, The Washington Post reports. Haspel reportedly heard the audio during her visit to Turkey, and a source told the paper the recording was “compelling.” Earlier this week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the U.S. would be revoking the visas of those implicated in Khashoggi’s killing, which occurred in the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul in early October. Pompeo also said the State Department would be working with the Treasury Department to determine “whether to impose sanctions” against those behind the killing. Turkish sources also reportedly claimed that Pompeo heard the recording and received a transcript of the audio while he was in Turkey, but the State Department denied this.
