A woman charged in a crash that killed two children—including the daughter of a Broadway actress—in Brooklyn earlier this year was found dead Tuesday in an apparent suicide, the New York Post reports. A friend reportedly discovered the body of Dorothy Bruns, 44, in her Staten Island home. Prescription pill bottles and an apparent suicide note were located near her body, according to the Post. Bruns was reportedly charged with “manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment, assault and reckless driving” after she lost control of her vehicle on March 5 and fatally ran over a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old. Bruns also injured the mothers of the two children, one of whom was pregnant Tony-winning star Ruthie Ann Miles. Miles later lost her near-term baby. Bruns was reportedly instructed not to drive by doctors, as she had multiple sclerosis and was “prone to seizures.” Bruns could have faced up to 15 years in prison, and was reportedly out on bail at the time of her apparent suicide.
