A sequel to the Oscar-winning movie Gladiator is in the works, Deadline reports. Gladiator 2 will reportedly follow the story of Lucius, who was saved by Russell Crowe’s Maximus character in the first movie. Ridley Scott, who directed the first film, is reportedly leading the charge on the sequel. Hunger Games screenwriter Peter Craig is also reportedly set to write the film. Paramount will develop the project and Universal will co-finance it. The first film, released in 2000, was nominated for 11 Oscars and won five—including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe.
