Federal authorities plan to end over a decade of searching for a new FBI headquarters, the Washington Post reports. For years, FBI officials have warned that their current headquarters in the J. Edgar Hoover Building were crumbling, and posed a potential security threat. Officials hoped to sell the property to a private real estate developer, and put $2 billion toward a new FBI facility in the D.C. suburbs. But officials from the General Services Administration, which oversees federal property plan to cancel the search in a Tuesday phone call, sources told the Post. The FBI is expected to remain in its current headquarters.
