A broker at Goldman Sachs said on a conference call on Friday that insurance companies will be raising prices—costing some of their customers their plans—in order to make more money. Because insurance companies enjoy monopolies in some areas, they can raise prices without worrying about losing customers to other companies. The Democrats’ health-care bill would end insurance companies’ antitrust exemption and create a commission to evaluate unexpected premium hikes.
