NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick will stand during the national anthem next season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday. Kaepernick “no longer wants his method of protest to detract from the positive change that he believes has been created,” Schefter wrote. In protest of racial inequality, the soon-to-be free agent quarterback kneeled when the national anthem played at NFL games last season. Numerous other NFL players followed Kepernick’s lead in kneeling during the anthem, drawing praise and ire from fans. Kaepernick’s foundation will donate $1 million to organizations aiding underprivileged people.
