The law firm currently representing longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen will no longer work on his case going forward, The Daily Beast has confirmed. After federal raids in April on Cohen’s properties, which seized over 3.7 million items, Cohen demanded that his lawyers be allowed to review the seized documents prior to federal examination to identify items covered by attorney-client privilege. Presiding Judge Kimba Wood gave Cohen’s team until Friday to sort through the documents, and The Daily Beast has confirmed that his legal team, Stephen Ryan and Todd Harrison of McDermott, Will & Emery LLP, will stop representing him after the review is complete. Cohen will be getting new counsel for the next stage of his case. The Wall Street Journal reported that Cohen hasn’t made up his mind as to whether he will cooperate with prosecutors. “Mr. Ryan’s abandonment of his client is a disaster for Mr. Cohen and likely Mr. Trump,” Stormy Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, told The Daily Beast.
