Oscar-nominated filmmaker Stephen Daldry is reportedly in early negotiations to direct a new standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi film. Sources cited by The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday say the project is still in its very early stages, with no script yet and no actors under consideration for the part. Ewan McGregor, who portrayed the younger Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise’s prequels, has previously said he’d be open to reprising the role. The Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone would join several other projects underway by Lucasfilm and Disney focusing on Star Wars characters. A Han Solo film being directed by Ron Howard is nearing completion, and Lucasfilm is also reportedly considering a project centering on Yoda and bounty hunter Boba Fett.
