Secretary of State Rex Tillerson plans to close the Pentagon office that handles war crimes, department officials told Foreign Policy. Todd Buchwald, who has coordinated the Office of Global Criminal Justice since 2015, has reportedly been reassigned to a post in the legal affairs office. The State Department neither confirmed nor denied the shuttering of the office. Human rights advocates decried its potential closure as a step backward for war criminal accountability.
