An assistant secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs reportedly appealed to Capitol Hill to oust his boss, Secretary David Shulkin. According to The Washington Post, John Ullyot asked Jonathan Towers, the staff director for House Veterans Affairs Committee, to have Republican lawmakers call on Shulkin to resign. Towers, according to the Post, refused. The episode came after an inspector general report outlined Shulkin’s alleged misuse of taxpayer funds for a foreign trip.
