Reports: Trump to Pull U.S. Out of Paris Climate Deal

Still deciding whether to initiate a full withdrawal or exit the underlying treaty.

President Trump has decided to withdraw from the Paris climate accord, according to multiple reports Wednesday morning. The Associated Press reported, based on an official with direct knowledge of the decision, that it is still unclear whether Trump will initiate a full withdrawal, which could take up to three years, or exit the international treaty altogether. There could be “caveats in the language,” the source said, indicating the president is wavering on the degree of a U.S. withdrawal from the accord. The decision is the White House’s latest move to unravel President Obama’s legacy on the environment and global warming, sending a signal to the rest of the world about where the U.S. now stands on climate change.
