President Donald Trump reportedly urged top lawmakers to end the congressional probes into Russia’s election meddling. “It was something along the lines of, ‘I hope you can conclude this as quickly as possible,’” Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told The New York Times. Burr said he told Trump that the probe will end “when we have exhausted everybody we need to talk to.” The Times also reports that Trump made similar overtures to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO). A White House spokesman said Trump never “attempted to apply undue influence on committee members.”
