Report: U.S. Starts to Send Weapons to Syrian Kurds
After having described the militia as essential in fight against ISIS.
Rodi Said/Reuters
The U.S. military has begun supplying equipment and weapons to Kurdish elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces (YDF), NBC News reported on Tuesday. While U.S. defense officials have previously called the Kurdish militia an essential part of the fight against ISIS in the region, the American military has never directly armed them, especially in light of concerns from the neighboring Turkish government (an ally of the U.S.) over the YDF being “terrorists.”
