A gunman claiming to represent the Islamic State terror group killed three people and wounded a dozen others during a hostage situation at a French supermarket, according to police. A man took hostages in a supermarket in the southwestern French town of Trèbes on Friday in what Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said “seems to be a terrorist act.” According to Reuters news agency, local mayor Eric Menassi told LCI TV that the man had entered the shop screaming “Allahu Akbar, (God is greatest) I’ll kill you all." Police later confirmed the attacker had been shot dead in a raid. Earlier a policeman was shot and wounded while jogging with colleagues in nearby Carcassonne, a 15-minute drive away, by the same suspect. The interior minister is at the scene and President Macron, speaking in Brussels where he's attending an EU summit, offered his “full support” to everyone working on the situation.
