Former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks was flanked by security guards as she left the News International building in Wapping, witnesses told the Daily Telegraph Thursday. More than 200 staff reacted with anger to the news that the paper was closing, and sub-editors of the paper’s sister publication, The Sun, walked out in protest. Labor minister Ed Miliband said Thursday night that he spoke to Rupert Murdoch two weeks ago, but did not bring up the phone-hacking conversations, while other ministers complained about Prime Minister David Cameron’s relationship with former editor Andy Coulson. Meanwhile, the shuttering of News of the World likely spells the end of the career of Colin Myler, the current editor of the tabloid who took over in 2007.
