The urban legend that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler had only one testicle may be right. Long-lost medical records unearthed by a German historian show that Hitler had “right-side cryptorchidism,” or an undescended right testicle. Professor Peter Fleischmann of Erlangen-Nuremberg University, the researcher who studied the records, told German newspaper Bild that the medical notes show that the testicle was “probably stunted.” The records therefore contradict a long-running rumor that Hitler had lost a testicle to shrapnel at the Battle of the Somme in World War I.
