Since John Galliano’s scandalous ousting last week, the fashion world has speculated widely about which designer would succeed him at Dior. Among the rumored succeessors: Marc Jacobs, Celine’s Phoebe Philo, and Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz. Late Tuesday, a rumor surfaced online that seemed to stick: Numerous sources buzzed on Twitter that Riccardo Tisci, creative director at Givenchy, had been confirmed to replace Galliano. Insiders had reportedly suggested throughout Paris Fashion Week that Tisci was the frontrunner—but Harper’s Bazaar Editor at Large Derek Blasberg seemed the first to report that the appointment had been confirmed: “I was just told backstage at the @KatyPerry concert (of all places!) that Riccardo Tisci is CONFIRMED at Dior,” he tweeted. Still no word from Dior.
