Texas Gov. Rick Perry will announce his plans for a presidential run during a speech in Charleston, S.C., on Saturday, sources told Politico. Though sources could not confirm whether he will formally enter the race on Saturday, his decision to reveal his 2012 plans on the same day as the Ames straw poll in Iowa will inevitably affect poll results. After speaking in South Carolina, he plans to make his first trip to New Hampshire for a house party at the home of state Rep. Pamela Tucker, who urged Perry to run while visiting Texas last week. He is expected to head west to Iowa following his New Hampshire debut.
