Schizophrenic feelings about Rihanna and River Island abound at #LFW.
Some say it's a great day for London, purists suggest that it's proof that a fashion week that has its roots in shows in carparks has finally sold out good and proper.
I mean, River Island?
Anyway, such snottiness doesn't stop the event - which is controversially part of the official #LFW line-up - being the most keenly awaited event of the day. Rihanna was photographed at LAX last night, so it seems she is definitely coming.
Menawhile ELLE magazine has the singer on its new cover, and their Fashion Director, Anne-Marie Curtis, delivers an online preview of what we might expect tonight from the clothes.
She says:
"My perception of her style was squarely rooted in the raunchy stage wear and street style that are synonymous with her image, (but) aside from a nod to street style in the denim section, the collection is an ode to all things high fashion.
"Think Eighties Norma Kamali meets Alexander Wang luxe sportswear. From fluid jersey dresses to sweatshirts to all-in-ones and varying length skirts almost exclusively in a navy, black and white palette, there are myriad options here for even the most discerning fashion eye. Stand-out items include a black jersey column evening dress, a brilliantly cut bra top, a navy cropped sweatshirt, and a properly fabulous denim jumpsuit."
