Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said Wednesday on ABC’s Good Morning America that neo-Nazis and white supremacists are not welcome in the Republican Party. “We don’t want your vote, we don’t support you, we’ll speak out against you,” McDaniel told host David Muir. The comments come after a white-supremacist rally in Charlottesville turned violent on Saturday, leaving one anti-racism protestor dead. President Trump has since caused outrage for blaming the violence on “both sides,” including “alt-left” demonstrators. “The president was saying that people brought violence from both sides,” McDaniel said. “And violence isn’t OK, but the blame lays squarely at the KKK, the white supremacists, the neo-Nazis who organized this rally, caused violence and are pushing hate across this country.” Her comments also come in stark contrast to RNC spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany, who tweeted Tuesday evening that “President @realDonaldTrump once again denounced hate today. The GOP stands behind his message of love and inclusiveness!”
