After the Republican National Committee stopped bankrolling President Donald Trump’s legal fees in the Russia probe, it started using campaign funds to pay Trump Tower $37,000 per month in rent and thousands in salary to Vice President Mike Pence’s nephew John Pence, party officials told CNBC. The party has spent $290,000 total to cover Trump campaign expenses since late September. While the committee covering these expenses is not illegal and was disclosed correctly, experts told CNBC that it was “highly unusual.”
