      Rochas's Sweet Tooth

      #PFW

Are those feather dusters for your feet? Marco Zanini delivered a collection for Rochas that was flirty and feminine with a bit of pizzazz.

Rochas’s Marco Zanini wins the award for having the most fun with one of Spring’s biggest trends -- flats -- at the line's Spring/Summer 2014 show on Wednesday. Embellished with ostrich feathers, the shoes swished down the runway like fanciful feather dusters.

The collection, inspired by Tennessee Williams’s The Glass Menagerie, was a glittering spectacle of sweet, sugary pastels and shimmering metallics. It was girly-to-boot and eccentrically so -- long, full skirts, ruffles, and Miss Havisham hair made the models look like they’d pulled an all-nighter after a beauty pageant.

The fabrics and details were also exquisitely feminine: frosted lace, duchess silk finished with Swarovski crystals, and a motif of roses that practically glistened on a silk-organza dress.

Eric Wilson reported on Tuesday that Zanini has been tapped for the main role at Schiaparelli, and that Alessandro Dell’Acqua will move in to fill his shoes at Rochas. If this is the case, then he capped off his tenure with a very charming final collection.
