It was the ultimate holiday gift for one very lucky rock fan: Janis Joplin's 1965 Porsche 356C Cabriolet, shown here circa 1969, sold at a Sotheby's auction in December ifor more than $1.7 million—more than three times its estimated price. The car features a psychedelic paint job by Joplin's former roadie that takes in "the history of the universe."

The gypsy-caravan motif outside hid what was within John Lennon's Rolls-Royce Phantom V: a double bed, a refridgerator, a record player, and a phone. At one time, the “Yellow Submarine” held the record for the most expense car in history, after it fetched $2.3 million in a 1985 Sotheby’s auction. These days, you can find it at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria, Canada.

George Harrison owned this psychedelic 1966 Mini Cooper S, which was featured in the Fab Four’s Magic Mystery Tour film and was reportedly the setting of the first acid trip experienced by John Lennon and the future Wilbury.

This 1956 psychedelic Bentley S-1 was first purchased in 1968 by the Beatles-owned Apple Corps and became something of a party car for the world’s most famous band, bearing the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Roger Daltrey, and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones around London. Lennon’s car was auctioned off by Christie's NY East, on June 21, 1989. It sports purple leather seats, a shocking pink rug, wood paneling, and purple and green paisley curtains.
