Another day, another newspaper is biting the dust. The Denver-based Rocky Mountain News, founded in 1859, announced today that it will publish its final edition tomorrow. The newspaper's parent company, E.W. Scripps Co., was unable to find an interested buyer to save the struggling broadsheet. "The Rocky is one of America's very best examples of what local news organizations need to be in the future," said Scripps' CEO. "Unfortunately, the partnership's business model is locked in the past." In an effort to save money, the paper has been sharing business services with the Denver Post since 2001. Earlier this week, Hearst announced the San Francisco Chronicle may face its end as well.
