If "obstruction of U.S. Congress" is a crime, isn't the Republican Party guilty? Roger Clemens, the former Major League Baseball pitching great, was indicted Thursday on six counts of obstruction of the U.S. Congress, false statements, and perjury. Clemens had testified under oath almost two and a half years ago that he had never used performance-enhancing drugs following accusations by his former trainer, Brian McNamee, that Clemens had taken steroids. These accusations were made public in George J. Mitchell’s infamous report on PEDs in Major League Baseball in December 2007. McNamee, who also testified before the committee, is alleged to have provided Clemens with PEDs—charges that Clemens has vehemently denied.
