Rolling Stone plans to publish an independent review of its disputed article about a campus rape in the magazine in early April, CNN reported Sunday. Columbia University’s graduate journalism school conducted the external review and publisher Jann Wenner said the team would have free rein to investigate the magazine’s reporting and editorial processes. The disputed article, “A Rape on Campus,” described a University of Virginia freshman’s account of gang rape at a fraternity party and the school’s subsequent failure to take action. The article was called into question after some of the details could not be corroborated. Separately, local Virginia police are expected to hold a press conference Monday on the results of a probe into the alleged rape.
