Mitt Romney took a much-needed victory in sparsely-populated Idaho and then finished off the night with a blockbuster win in Ohio, fending off a surging Rick Santorum in what turned out to be a super Super Tuesday. Romney had 38 percent of the vote compared to Santorum's 37 percent. With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Romney collected 450,543 votes to Santorum's 438,515 in a primary that brought out over 1.24 million voters compared to 1.1 million in 2008. Santorum had won in North Dakota (which Romney won in 2008), as well as Tennessee and Oklahoma. But Romney sealed the night after wins in Vermont, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Idaho to go along with his W in Ohio.
